I'm in the middle of doing the install. I wanted to ask, the difference in the air space in the 2 door vs 4 door. This person sealed around his seat belts which is what I wanted to do, but he has a 4 door and I have a 2 door. Here's his post but it's 4 yrs old. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showp...9&postcount=55

If I don't make a barrier right after my seat belt, I have space all the way to the front door. Will that be too much air? If I seal do make a seal, does anyone know how much air space there is? My sub is rated for .60 - 1.0 in a sealed enclosure. Thanks for any help.

Alright, I ended up sealing the section like the pic above. I'm just going to stuff a bunch of poly fill to make the enclosure seem larger to the sub.
New question though, does it matter if I use 1/2" MDF vs 3/4" for the baffle? Reason is, is because I am mounting the sub to the back of the board for the stealth look, and I'm thinking that extra 1/4" in the 3/4" board is going to make the magnet hit the fender. At least that's what it's looking like. Here is the sub I'm mounting: http://outlet.crutchfield.com/p_236T...04.html?tp=111

Polyfill will make the enclosure seem larger to the sub, not smaller. I know it doesn't make sense, but you're better off using structural foam (it's like styrofoam, but much softer and you can squeeze it into tight spots). I read once something about the polyfill. Has to do with the material absorbing sound. I think it was on the Crutchfield site ... and you know that they are authorities in the audio field.
I did this mod years ago and I stayed away from the polyfill.
