today I changed:

complete cruise control wiring harness
brake switch (the white one)
turn signal lever

It is still not working !?!?!?

How can I check the brake switch? Can it cause the problem? what is with the speed signal thing that goes into the wiring? How can I check that?

mines not working either, i've been reading that the newer jeeps, w/ the switch in the steering wheel and with air bags, the clock spring is usually the culprit....

it that the chance on a later model? such as my 1990 Cherokee?

Welcome to the forum Phantom. 90 would be "earlier". I'm not so clear here, but I think "clock-spring has to do with airbags, which I don't think were available in a 90. I could well be wrong there. Btw, one of my 90's has cruise that doesn't work....maybe I'll get to that someday.

I didn't think mine worked either, but really I just had to let the truck ease itself in to cruise. At first i jist hit the button and pulled my foot off the gas and it wouldnt kick in. Eventually I hit the button and slowly let off the gas until I felt the pedal start moving itself. Fun fact, even if you hit the button at 75 it'll drop to 67.5 before kicking in. Don't know if that's a feature or what, but it keeps you out of trouble.

The clock spring is used to transfer signals through a rotating joint. If you have any electrics in the steering wheel you have one.
