I’ve got a base model 96’, made 8/1996 (for sure a 1996) that I’d like to add cruise control to. I found a great post (link below) where he used the servo and cable etc. from a 90’ Grand Cherokee.

The problem is, as far as I know there was no 90’ Grand Cherokee.

Im wondering what years of parts I can use? I think only 1996 Cruise control switches will work, but will the servo and cables work for earlier years? What about the clock spring?

There’s more info on 97+ so it’s a little sparce for info out there for 1996, which is a painful year.

Thanks for any help!

I installed CC on my 96. Found a donor same year. Lucky. Servo swapped right over. In fact the wiring for it was already there! Kind of tucked under the power distribution box. But I pulled it free and hooked it up. Holes already in the firewall or marks for same. Can't remember.

Vacuum T was already in the line and ready. Just was capped off. Plugged in the short vac line that came on the donor servo. No problemo!

I did not mount the control buttons on the steering wheel. Just lengthened the wire harness and mounted the controls on the left side of the console right by the seat with some super stick double sided tape.. Easy and handy enough. Harness hooked right up under the steering column.

One of the easier upgrades I did. You might look at all Mopars for similar years. I think the steering wheels and control button assy are all the same. Maybe the servo too. Measure length of the cable to be sure.
