Default Crank window wont roll up

1991 jeep cherokee with manual window. the passenger side window wont roll up, instead there is a loud chattering noise when you turn the handle with no movement from the window. I pulled off the door panel to see the issue, but every component of the crank system is riveted in. Any help?

Have you tried taking the handle off, and using a wrench to turn the window? I had to do that a while back.

If that is where the "chattering noise" seems to be coming from it's time to change out the window regulator. As for the rivets you will have to drill them out to change out the regulator.

You have to take out all 6 rivets. Good luck finding a new regulator. Time for junkyarding.

Here you go:

This is where I got mine. You need to take out all the rivets to get that part out (it is a one-piece track). The rivets are 1/4", which is conveniently one size larger that your general store-bought rivet tools will handle/supply. Either harbor freight or McMaster for the tool (if you are into that kind of thing), but don't forget the rivets (I highly suggest aluminum rivets if you are going to be using a hand-tool at that size).

I used nuts and bolts, it's easier and holds up fine. So far.
