Default Crank no start

00 xj with a 96 engine. intake is from a 00, all harnesses are correct, dizzy swapped for the sensor. Disconnected fuel line at rail, no fuel. Cannot hear the pump kick on. Checked 30 amp fuse for ASD, swapped ASD relay with another used one. Jumped Pins 87 and 30 at the ASD relay to see if the fuel pump would kick on. It did not. I also ran a wire from the positive battery post to the 4 wire plug at the fuel tank and with the plug disconnected (with and without KO) probed the 4 wires and no pump noise. Ran a ground from the battery and had a friend turn the key on and off to check for power at the 4 wires. Big orange wire flashed my meter very quick not even a second and the other orange? wire next to the big orange one showed voltage with the key on.

When cranking the tach doesn't move but the fuel gauge moves a bit from empty. possible theres not fuel but regardless the pump doesn't come on. Battery gauge and oil gauge work.

So Ive done some further testing. Good ground on both sides of the plug at the two black wires. Good power at the two orange wires with a brief jump when the key is first turned on for the thicker orange wire. Was a solid second that it blipped. Applied power to the big orange one with the key on and plug connected and no priming. Applied ground to both black wires one at a time with the same method and no priming. Seems it has to be the pump unless my testing is incorrect. Any ideas?

I'd say if you gave the pump cpr and it still flatlines, it's the pump. Sounds like you get the 2 second prime signal ok too.

Removed and tapped the fuel-pump pump. Works now. must have been stuck from sitting so long. Thanks!
