I received a 98 GC 4.0 Laredo that had been sitting for about 3 years, but was well maintained before coming off the road.
It was dead when I got it and I went through changed the battery, plugs wires, ignition coil, dist cap and rotor, and crankshaft position sensor.. Still have no spark but it will crank for days..
Anyone have any advice on what to check next? Everything I read says the CPS should have cured the issues, but to my surprise it did nothing..

Are you getting power to the coil? To the dizzy? Knowing where you're losing the spark is key to figuring out where to look for the problem.

Are you getting power to the coil? And there are plenty of horror stories about sensors, especially the cheaper crank position sensors being bad out of the box. Put a multimeter to it and check it out to be sure.Originally Posted by Smunroe
Have nothing from the ignition coil.. Didn't check cps but it's brand new out of box would hope it wasn't the problem..

What brand cps did you have? I bought a cheap cps and installed it, still no fire. Bought the oem cps and it started and runs like a champ!
