Default Cracking Jeep body?

Alright so this is the 2nd '01 cherokee that i have been under that has a cracker in the actual body itself(see pictures). What is causing this. The other one is much much worse! this is just "mild" both have never been in accidents one is stock this one is lifted.

By the seat bracket, is it the actual metal or just the coating? What does the metal look like from above?

My buddys 2000 xj did that. We just welded the cracks and then welded a plate over it. We never figured out what made it happen.

i would just be happy my under side is so clean lol. i can't say whats causing it but i don't think a crack like that can really challenge the structural integrity of the unibody

are you doing much wheeling with them? you may be getting a lot of unibody flex that is causing the cracks.....weld on frame stiffeners may help prevent that

No this one is a pavement princess and the other one is wheeled but not to hard. so i doubt it is body flex.... and it is the actual metal not the undercoating

alright so i wheel the out of mine and i barely have the start of a crack.... i dont get why theres is cracked so much

without a welder your options are very limited. i was gonna say clean it up and throw some beads in there. than maybe even throw some more sheet metal on top of that to strengthen it up even more.

T and J performance has bolt on stiffners. RE has them on sale for about $200.

Cracking is the nature of the beast. Adding frame rail stiffners and a cage is the best option to combat cracking.
