Ok guys, Ive got a goofy one for you. My 2001 xj is getting really damn hot, but the temp gauge isnt going up. It is operating at normal temps, but after reaching temp there is a rattle when accelerating, really rough idle (only once motor has reached temp), oil pressure drops to 10psi (only when idling), and after running 15 min or so starts smoking real bad from under valve cover and lots of smoke coming from oil dipstick tube. Coolant is clean, havent had time to look at oil yet. Any ideas? And anyone around STL willing to take a look at it?

 

Check water pump. Sounds like water is not circulating past temp sensor

 

Agreed. Stop running the motor until you get it fixed, BTW. Not a good year to overheat.
