Cracked frame question.
Hello everyone.
The other day i was hearing a noise whenever i turn the wheel to the left.
When i inspected i noticed the famous frame crack. From viewing this pictures can anyone suggests a good fix for this? I was thinking buying a frame plate kit but i don't know how bad is it. Thanks

is this the infamous steering frame crack that everyone sells plates to prevent? not trying to be a jerk, i am really curious. It looks like it has been broken before and was partially brazed.

Yes it can be repaired but you should have experience welding on a frame of this thickness for sure or farm it out to someone who does then have the plating done again experience on the thin frame material. The reason I say this is my lack there of and send my welding out to a friend who has a Welding Shop.
My son's 98 XJ did the same thing and my friend repaired and plated his, drives fine and no issues to date.

@ Fred/N0AZZ, so basically weld the crack, plate it and weld again? Thanks man for the ideas that's what i was thinking. I just want to hear some ideas here because where i live people want to half-*** things.

Steering
My son's 94 XJ developed a severe crack. Instead of fixing it we decided to retire his rig and bought him a 95 XJ that runs great. He is switching all the good parts over and I took the axles and put them under my 91 XJ to gain gearing and the 8.25 Chrysler.
To be safe I decided that I would plate my 91 XJ steering area with this

I don't think it would work for a repair but I hope it will prevent the problem.
