Default Cracked Flywheel

I have a 2000 Cherokee sport. My check engine light has bin coming on as multiple cylinder misfires. I checked everything and came up with nothing. I took it to the garage and they said I have a cracked flywheel. This is some thing that is out of my league to fix. I dont want to get ripped off so anyone have an idea what this should run? Any idea what would cause this? My wife drives it alot to and from work and has it in 4 wheel drive most of the time because of all the snow. Could that be the problem?
