You're viewing my engine from the bottom side. What causes the reddish tinge? Engine burning too hot? How do the inner components look? Toast?
The second photo is a picture after the rear main bearing was removed. How much longer do you think I'll have on this vehicle? PLEASE SEE CRACK on crank end.
Please take moment to give me your thoughts on the following pictures:

The fly wheel mounting flange looks clean. Apparently your rear main seal was not leaking. If you do not replace it now, it will leak. That would have been the last cap I would have pulled, unless the seal was leaking, then it would have been the first, and seal would be replaced.
If I am seeing what you are referring to as a crack, it just looks like a a small void in the casting. Nothing to worry about. As for the color, it is a bit odd but doesn't look like it is heat related to me.
What made you pull the pan and bearing caps off anyway. Was there some sort of problem?
The coloration is probably varnish, a by product of the combustion process. How many miles on the Jeep? Do you know what type of oil was used and the oil change interval?
Using a marginal dino oil (castrol gtx for example) with long drain intervals will create varnish. Use a good oil like Shell Rotella, dino or synthetic, and a good filter like Wix.
You could also add a quart of marvel mystery oil to 5 qts of oil and drain after 1000 miles. That would help clean it up.
Crank and Engine..Thank you for your replies! (New pic)
If you look closely on the crank (engine side) you will see a jagged perpendicular crack running up right by the oil droplet hanging off the flange. See picture:
Here's a few concerns:
1) Fan shroud keeps hitting my front main engine fan at high rpms. Have replaced 2 so far.
2) Cam lobes look worn
3) Crankshaft looks to have a crack in between the flange and the end of the crank.
4) Slight hesitation when in idle
5) A intermittent, slight clacking noise is audible at times (Sounds like diesel engine)
Anyone have experience with this? I took these pictures when I had my rear main seal replaced. I'm curious as to how those marks appeared on my camshaft bearing and of course the ominous looking crack between the flanged ends of my crank.
