1. how do i know what kind of transfer case i have in my xj

2. same with the axles. idk how to determine what kind of axles i have and i need to know for the lift i plan on getting

The T-case will have a tag on it with the model listed.

Front should be a dana 30. Rear a dana 35/44 or a Chryco 8.25

There should be tags on the axles held on by diff cover bolts. clean em up and see what they say if they are still there.

 

Hope these answers will help:
1 Transfer case: Look at the shift pattern. If the pattern is 2HI - 4HI - N - 4LO, you have the NP231, or "Command Trac". If the pattern is 2HI - 4HI (P/T) - 4HI (F/T) - N - 4LO, you have the NP242, or "Selec-Trac".
