Hello Jeepers!
I have been leeching off information from this forum for months~ and I finally decided to join the forum and start off by asking few questions
I own 96 xj 2 door 5 speed. I noticed that my headlight is quite dim on nighttime driving and decided to upgrade them.
So I went to NAPA and talked with one of the guys there, and he strongly recommended me to use Philip's nightguide bulbs.
1. Anyone used that bulb? Comments? Any better alternatives?
2. What is the correct number for the replacement bulb? 9003? 9005?
Thank you all in advance!

6054 for those with high/low rectangular sealed beams.

The newer, brighter headlights are an improvement. IIRC, 45W was the old spec for low beam, but now 55W is widely available. Look at the number of lumens output (higher is better) and light temperature(3000K will be yellowish while 4000K will be whiter and brighter).
Check your voltage at your headlight plugs with the bulbs removed, and compare to your voltage at the battery. If you have more than 1V voltage drop at the plug, you might want to consider an accessory headlight wiring harness. This will supply battery voltage to the headlights through relays, and your light switch will only supply enough current to operate the relays vs headlights in OEM configuration.
I'm running aftermarket housings with replaceable H4 bulbs. 60/55W are DOT legal, but higher wattage, brighter bulbs are available. DOT approved housings have the 3 prongs on the front for aiming, but the eurospec ECE do not. The ECE put more light on the road.

Johnsonburg Pa?
Do you have a link to the lights? Are they bright?
I'm running increased wattage PIAA H4s in ECE housings and a pair of PIAA 520ATPs downgraded bulbs as auxiliary lows/fill for highs. They are not DOT approved, and not wired legal for PA, but I CAN SEE at night! I DO have them aimed down so as to not cauterize the eyeballs of oncoming motorists.
