Is this correct??
Hi,
Sorry to ask this, but I always get confused about what the right oils to be used in the gear box and the 4WD box.
As I've understood from the owner's manual, they are as follows:
For the gear box: DEXRON II or MERCON Fluid.
For the 4WD box: MOPAR DEXRON III or MOPAR ATF+3 Type 7176.
Is this ok?? My car is a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

Assuming it's automatic. Dexron III in transmission and transfer case is what I've been running for years. ATF-4 has replaced the 3 so that is what you'll want to run in the Tcase If you do that.

I run the same in both. Your manual calls for chrysler atf 4 in the transfer case so if you want to stick to stock fluid do as you had originally planned. Dexron in the transmission and chrysler atf-4 in transfer case.

DO NOT use atf-4 in the transmission...DexIII/Merc only.
Put the same in the transfer case.
