Nix the deal. If you want to clean the engine just take it to the quarter car wash. Just don't wash the distributor. Take a can of WD40 along just in case you get water in it. If you do, just spray it out and replace the cap. Old dog trick for mudding. Anyway, that should take car of washing. If it is really greasy, just spray it with Gunk degreaser first.

For cleaning the outside, I've found that Mighty Green stuff works pretty darn good, I used to race around dirt bikes out here in AZ and would always get them real muddy and dirty, I'd pretty much soak the entire thing in Mighty Green, let it sit for five minutes, then hose it off. It worked wonders on it, even got the super caked on mud and crap that had baked onto the header.
