Find a terminal in the fuse box under the driver's side dash marked pwr acc. Verify that its hot when the ignition is ON, and no voltage is present with the ignition off. I used a 1/4" spade connector and 14ga wire. Run the other end of that wire to the center pole of a switch. Run another wire from one of the outer poles of the switch to the white wire of the fan. You might want to add an inline fuse holder.
Now when the ignition is on, the pwr acc terminal will be hot, and your switch will control whether or not you're sending 12v to the fan.
If you have tested the black wire to your fan and it shows continuity to ground, it won't be necessary to run a seperate ground wire.

Refer to the below diagram to make sense of the following.
Remove the relay. With a voltmeter, check and see if any of the connectors have 12V while the vehicle is off. Then, start the jeep and repeat the test.
Connector #1 should power the fan. If you run 12V to it, the fan should turn on. If any of the other connectors are off when the vehicle is off, and on when the vehicle is on, you could run a wire between the two connectors and the fan will turn on when you start the vehicle. The whole kit should be pretty inexpensive.
Of course, you could also be cursed like me, where the connectors that have 12V have it all the time (regardless if the vehicle is running or not), or have it only when the vehicle is off. If this is the case, let me know if for no other reason than sympathy.
A few safety considerations -- notably, this isn't as safe as fixing it correctly. If you decide to try this, you will want to go with larger gauge wire (I'm thinking 14 ga at least) and an in-line fuse of 25A. This chart suggests you could go as high as 40A with 14 ga wire.
