Cooling fan constantly running

Cooling fan constantly running
Hi,
I've just bought my first Cherokee 4.0L and the only fault there seems to be with it is that the cooling fan seems to run almost constantly even from cold. It does not seem to be overheating. I've done a search and the only thing I can find that it might be is the sensor on the thermostat housing might be faulty. Does that sound right?
