So what coolant do you guys run in your jeeps i wondered what others have in theirs and if they would get it again. I recently flushed my system and ysy no rust. But next flush i may switch to jeep coolant the G0-5 stuff? Its blue and think it would be better? I dont know thats why i made this thread also additives are welcomed too. and if you use dex cool then go away lol. Also maybe what the new new wranglers use the purple stuff or i think now orange idk theres specifics online.

I'm kind of a "keep it simple" guy when it comes to this. I don't want compatibility issues (Dexcool! AHHH!), so I just use yellow Prestone or O'Reilly extended-life ethylene glycol. I know G-05 is supposed to have excellent compatibility, but I'm not likely to change unless I see a dramatic benefit in doing so.

I just run the regular old green antifreeze. Market Basket (our local grocery store with super cheap prices) sells the 50/50 mix super cheap. Temp has been a steady 207 (just to the left of the 210 mark) ever since replacing my bad thermostat.
I'm unfamiliar with the new styles, but I would guess they're designed for aluminum rather than the cast iron that our i6 blocks and heads use, so I would do a ton of research before using them.

My thought is that there's more guessing with 50/50 mix than with concentrate if you flush the system. How much water is left in the block and heater core after a flush, and how do you properly mix 50/50 with that? Who cares with concentrate--just put in 100% coolant equal to 1/2 the cooling system capacity and fill the rest with water. For top-offs, it's not that hard to mix 50/50 with distilled, and it's usually cheaper. I keep distilled water around for other reasons though, so it's not a convenience issue for me.

I completely redid my cooling system except for the heater core and fan clutch in Nov. of 2016. Also installed a new belt and idler pulley. Not until I did this could I let the vehicle sit idling with the a/c on for extended periods of time on a HOT day. Wouldn't over heat before but definitely was at the upper end of okay.

Thats another thing as well is maybe its made for aluminum parts instead of iron. And true about the major benefits is it really worth a few dollars more for a little benefit? I mean if it jumps up by 50k miles or 100k more then yes it may or somehow magically cool your engine down by 10 or 20 degrees then maybe but i have yet to see this magical coolant and more like just stick a giant high cfm fan in your jeep lol

Also forgot to mention i have the prestone extended life in mine. It was so weird it looked clear until i looked at an angle and oh look green and yellow. Was weird stuff but hey it works great! I flushed my system with the prestone cooling system flush and then flushed that out and then rinsed my system 2 times all using distilled water and the last rinse i filled 1 jug and half a jug of concentrate into my system and topped off with distilled water and presto i got a happy dappy jeep now for a new fan shroud and clutch and im sure i will see an improvement of sorts since the whole bottom of my shroud went missing and then im sure it wont budge past 210 degrees

I don't know if you remember or not, but when the red coolant came out you could not accidentally add one cup of green to it or it turned to almost solid mud/goo and killed your system and engine. The government had to step in and force them to make the red compatible with the green to prevent this. It was no accident this happened, it was absolutely done on purpose. I don't like the orange/red either just because I am still very bitter over this deceptive business practice they used. I'm still in "boycott red" mode. lol

If you are willing to spend the money, water-less coolant is some pretty cool stuff. It has a ridiculously high boiling temp and creates virtually no pressure in the system.
