I got a 97 jeep cherokee sport and just a new 4.0 head and the coolant sensor thats on the head thats for the gauge is sealed with a bolt and we trying to get it out it strip and was wondering is there another input were i can put the sensor at for the gauge

The 97-01 doesnt use a head mounted temp sensor. The 91-96 did. The 97 uses the one in the thermostat housing.

I had a vehicle a while ago ( not a jeep but still )that would peg out the temp gauge but sometimes fluctuate and after checking things out the plastic connector for the temp sender had degraded due to heat and of course being old and the connection was just dirty and corroded.
my temp is running at 210 exactly after driving it but my gauge says it’s running at 180 or even less than that i have replaced the Sender 3 times and tested the gauge with a ground wire and there fine only thing I can think is that the cap on the wire maybe be dirty and it’s also squishy around the cap can that cause it to read cold and what is the best way to clean it ?
