coolant temp high
ok so i have a 89 xj and i did the open cooling system swap and installed everything new. new 195 tstat and a housing off a newer xj so i can put a sensor in the tstat housing, new flowkooler water pump new expantion tank and radiator with dueal electric fans with a flex a light controler. the sensor for the fans is in the t-stat housing and i still cant get the temp gauge to stay at 210 it gose to like 24-250 bust dosnt over heat and it dosnt burn coolant. do i just try setting my fans to kick on earlyer? i tryed going by the gauge and turning them on as soon as the gauge says 210. the only sensor for the gauge to rear is in the back of the head as the one in the radiator is no more because it a open system i did. the jeep dosnt over heat and runs great or leak just pisses me off that the gauge wont stay at 210. could the sensor in the head be faulty? ive replaced it and still nothing any thoughts?

Have you verified the temp with an I.R. temp gun aimed at the t-stat housing? If it is get that hot the problem can be the elect fans you installed. Most of the after market fans do't have enough scfm required for the engine to keep it cool.
