Smile Converting Manual Windows to Power Windows?

Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm new to the jeep forum, and I actually don't own a jeep ---- my gf does though (I own an Mr2). Anyways, she has a 97 jeep cherokee classic sport w/ manual windows, and I was wondering if it would be possible to convert her windows to power windows. I was in the junk yard today and I found a 98 jeep classic that was fully loaded. It had all four doors (complete) - in great condition ---- and this is where I got the idea. So I just wanted to know if anyone else has ever tried this? Would there be harnesses that I could easily plug into or would I need to wip out the soldering iron? Thanks!

Ben

The wiring harness will already be in place. You will need the switches, regulators, window motors, and possibly a few other minor items.

Thanks for the quick response. The main thing I wanted to find out was about the harnesses and about being able to use my existing window supports and "lifters" (not sure what you call it).

Do you know of a link to a manual that shows how to work on these jeeps (like the manual that dealerships have for the mechanics). A PDF possibly? Thanks!

You will basically need everything connected to the donor windows inside the door. This web site has some info that may be helpful.

2 year thread necro?

Oh, and to get the same effect as power windows, with crank windows, just break the crank levers off so you can't open them. Now you have Cherokee power windows!
