Default Controller Antilock Brakes Jeep XJ 2001

Till yesterday I have never had trouble with my brakes. My dana c35 rear axle has been totaly overhauled after 196.000 km. At that moment the ABS warning lamp went on. After control and adjust of the gap of the rear sensors to 1 mm the lamp went off. But when using the brakes and the speed of the jeep is almost zero the abs pump start working. What goes wrong?

Greetings

Are you getting an ABS light when stopping? I just went throught this on an '06 GMC 2500 4x4. With mine I would get ABS activation and sometimes the dash light would come on, just as I came to a full stop. In my case it was a bad wheel bearing on one side and a bad sensor on the other. If the light comes on it will store a code. You'll need a scanner for the ABS/Airbag system. My Actron code scanner wouldn't read ABS codes.

The Jeep may be completely different than the GMC so I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.

More than likely you have a fault sensor. If a sensor stops reading while you're braking, the system will think you've locked that wheel up and kick in the pump. I have this issue on my Jeep, but decided it was better to just unplug the fuses vs replacing the $200 sensor. The early-1990's ABs system is useless to me anyways, since I like being able to control what my wheels do in a slide.

As for figuring out which one it is, really no way to do it without live data from the ABS module, since it seems to be an intermittent fault. If the sensor fails completely, it'll set off a code. And live data, you'll need a really nice scan tool to get that.

I went to an official jeep dealer. With the obdIII tool there was a fault in the rear right sensor but only on the moment the abs starts working. They have adjusted the gap of the sensors and with the obdIII scan device the sensors were "learned" Problem solved for 75 euros
