Control arm logic...
Hey all!
I have been fumbling around with my front control arms adjusting caster ( I think ). I'm sitting at around a 8" lift. I found a page that showed how long of control arms are needed for every inch of lift. Stock lowers are 15 3/4, uppers are 15.
Uppers stay at 15 until you hit 5" lift, then goes up by increments of 1/4" for every added inch of lift. So at 8" lift the lowers should be at 17 3/4" and the uppers at 16".
Now my question is: If I leave the upper control arms at 15 inches, and go like 17 or 16 3/4 on the lowers, my caster angle should be right, the only difference would be a shorter wheelbase. Correct?

i run mine with too much caster and all it does is makes the steering wheel whip back to center faster than normal. and my steering isnt as touchy.
but it does combat against death wobble by keeping it from doing what a shopping kart wheel does.

I must be having a brain-fart right now.
Johnny, what do you mean by rate?
Sandaddick, my steering seems to be really easy now compared to before, but I also put in a new tie-rod and drag-links. Also, when you say too much caster, that would mean your front axle is tilted forward. Correct?
