Well need is relative...What a control arm drop kit will do is drop the control arms down 3" at the frame side. This will decrease the angle of the CA's and improve ride quality. At your height I' would just add that extra 1" to level out and go long arm. IMHO CA drop kits are great for those who run say a 3.5"-4.5" lift and wants a little smoother ride. Once you get up around that 6" mark you need long arms for better angles and articulation. That's just my opinion. Now I am sitting at around 4-4.5" and plan on doing a drop kit simply because I won't be going any higher on my jeep.

Probably, they correct the angles on the control arms and allow you to have a better ride and more articulation in your flexing while off road. Rule of thumb is below 4-4.5" you can get away without any correction of the control arm angles but above that you need to at least consider drop brackets or better yet long arms or "Y" arms.

Hey blue how much lift do you net from your RE 3.5? I am sitting at about 4,5" front and back but had to add a 3/4" spacer up front to level out. Those rear leaf packs are some stiff high riding sob's..lol I plan no the drop kit for the reasons you stated, improve ride and offroad abilities..but if I could afford or justify the cost I'd go y-link any day..

Well I would be at 4.5" but I hung that ugly bumper and winch on the front and the not quite as ugly one on the back so I have about 4" front and back from the OEM listed height.

I have a RE 4.5 short arm kit –measures at 5”. I’ve been thinking about a CAD system for awhile. I’m looking at Rough Country and Rocky Road.

Does any one have one of these.
