Hey guys
Can anyone take a picture of their oil pressure sensor?
I have a 88, 4.0, manual...
I've gone to autozone and advance, and they show me a sensor that is cylinder looking, thin, and black with silver top... the one I have on the cherokee that went bad is short, stubby, and cylinder looking
Thanks

There are two types depending on whether you have a gauge or a light on your instrument panel. Generally the one for the gauge is bigger and costs more. The sensor for the light is smaller and cheaper. And you'll probably need the Super Duper Oil Sensor Socket to get it out.

However, the case style is irrelevant to the operation of the sensor proper. For instance, I replaced a large bell-shaped sensor (drives a gage) with a short metal-and-plastic composite case. Same function, different appearance.
As long as it performs the same function (switch or variable resistance,) uses the same method to attach the wiring (1/4" spade lug, else you'll need to reterminate the wire,) and the same attachment to the engine (1/8" NPT,) you'll be good. Doesn't matter what the thing looks like.
