Default computer firing injector issues?

alright so heres my story. 87 cherokee pioneer l6 4.0 one day it just wouldnt start. so i towed it home. replaced everything i could think of. all the way to fuel pump and fuel filter. still wouldnt start. realized the injectors werent firing up so i replaced the computer..... started right up after that. well driving home i had my headlights on and they were pretty dim. but when i took a left turn they lit right up and my battery was at 12v. the next day i had to jump it to start. and the battery died while driving. so i assumed that the terminal cables were beat up. i replaced them. when i replaced them the headlights came on and wouldnt shut off. so i assumed i hooked it up wrong. so i swapped the grounds on the contacts. and my lights came off and on correctly. jumped it. and its cranking high. but its not starting AGAIN! so my first question is. when i changed stuff around. did i by any change short out the computer and fry it. or is there a fuse or anything that protects the computer i fried. i sure to heck hope i dont need to buy a third computer. but im out of ideas. and i need to get this thing fixed so i can lift it this weekend.
