can i retrofit a newer style ac compressor onto my 87 engine? my compressor is a pain in the *** to hook the charge line upto to put freon into the system (unless i am hooking to the wrong line). i have two ports on the top of compressor where the lines connect to it. the easy one is not the one the line hooks to, of course, it has to be the one that there is not enough room to get the piece onto the port. i noticed in a pic from another ac thread that the newer compressor and lines have a whole different set up. can i put that set up on my 87 cherokee easily?

AFAIK you would need to change the condenser and lines and get the whole system evacuated, this is what was told to me by a friend who does AC in cars...Tj
