Default Common way to remove broken shock mounting nuts???

Okay, so I am in need of some help. I'm installing a lift kit at the moment and am finding the bolts to be a PIA (like most people who install lifts). I had broken 3 of the 4 shock mounting bolts off and was in the process of drilling them out tonight. I successfully drilled and tapped 2 of the broken bolt holes but the other broken shock bolt was not so lucky. While I was trying to tap out the old threads with a punch, the welded shock nut popped off and is now rattling inside the formed cross channel. Is the only way to remove that nut and reinstall it properly to cut through the floor on the inside, weld the new nut in place and then weld up the floor again?

Also...unrelated to the shock mounting nuts...I also had a to cut off the leaf spring eye bolt that bolts in the frame the other day. Now I only have a small nub to work with (probably not one of my best ideas) and again, its being a PIA to get loose. Any suggestions for removing the remainder of the leaf spring bolt? I was thinking about either cutting through the frame and cutting the nut off in the frame channel or welding a handle to the bolt nub and trying to turn it loose that way.

Thanks for any advice!

For the shock bolt, just fish a new bolt down through the hole, add nut, problem solved. I ended up doing that to all 4 bolts and welding them in. If you don't weld then it'll be fine anyway.

Instead of putting the nut up in the cross channel, put the bolt up there.

It's easy to do. Get two of those telescoping pen magnets. Fish the bolt up there with one, and use the other magnet to catch the bolt when it gets near the hole to pull it down. That's how I did it, worked flawlessly.

An end wrench will fit in there to hold the bolt still, but finger tighten the nuts as far as you can before using a wrench or impact.

Cutting holes and hacking up your jeep is unnecessary. It took me a pen magnet, hammer, a punch, and 5min to get the bolts fished through. Why would you want to cut holes in your floor?!?!
