Comanche 4 speed onto Cherokee?
My local junkyard has an 88 Comanche with the 2.46L AMC Gasoline I-4 TBI and the 4 speed manual floor shift (according to a VIN decoder).
My question is: will the 4spd from the 4 cylinder bolt directly to my 4.0? If not, will the bellhousings swap (putting the auto bellhousing on the manual), or would I need to get the bellhousing off of a 4.0 manual tranny?
I am just curious as to whether or not this would work - I'm not saying I'm gonna do this, it's more of a last resort option. I plan to get a XJ 4.0 manual transmission (that way I can get the driveshafts too) ... That is if I can find that still has the transmission.
