On cold starts my 2000 4.0 Classic surges for maybe a minute while under acceleration and I can hear a clunking in the front end on every surge. This is in regular 2wd so I was thinking maybe torque converter or transfer case? I'm not sure if it does it in any other drive setting. Upon warm up everything is fine.

Also I am not sure if this is related but I have a bad misfire on cold start ups at idle, and if I try to pull away at the time of the misfire. No codes thrown but it sounds like a multiple cylinder miss so I was thinking IAT or TPS. But the two problems have overlapped so it could very well be related. Thank you for any help.

I replaced my TPS, cleaned my IAT and TB and replaced my plugs. Still hesitates and surges upon warm up. It doesn't happen initially right after start up, I would say between 130-175 degrees.

Also I noticed when going down hill on the highway sometimes it revs and hesitates but ONLY when going down hill. I'm going to guess some sort of fuel issue.

Side note, I have a whine under throttle. Probably intake leak.
