Default Coil spring retainer bolt hole

Soo a friend of mine stripped the hole where the bolt for the coil retainer goes and I was wondering what the preferred method of repair was

I was thinking of tapping it out and putting in the next size bolt. Someone mentioned that I should use heli coils.

Also wondering if it could be welded, even though it's only about an 1/8 inch thick, might be too much stress from the coils though not too sure, any feed back would be great

Just received my HD coil spring retainers.

It says, it comes with oversized "selftapping" bolts......looking at them now and they look just like REGULAR bolts

Both of mine were jacked. I just drilled and tapped it to the next side up. No worries...
