You're reaching now. If your crank or cam was wiggling then I could imagine chain slap, but that would lead to catastrophe.

I tried the method of putting a shop vac on blower mode and put it in the tailpipe stuff a rag around it and let the air flow with the engine off of course and went around checking for air coming out and nothing really stood out just some air leaking near the muffle

I did find this not sure if this could ever be an issue looks cracked inside

That's not a crack, just a surface blem.

Since nothing's really broken and the sound annoys you only for a minute when accelerating maybe it's time to turn up the radio and enjoy your jeep. Drive it until something breaks - then you'll find the problem! (Sorry if that sounded harsh but I think you know what I mean.)

Adam, keep the shiny side up.

FWIW more time and money is spent chasing annoying noises than any other "legit" vehicle repair service. And then it costs ~20 bucks and takes ~20 minutes to fix after it breaks.

Enjoy your Jeep and Tom Petty (good choice ). LMK when it breaks. PM me if you need to. Will help if I can.

If it is rotational, try removing the driveshafts individually and drive it like that. This will rule out or confirm u-joints on driveshafts. Have you greased the driveshaft slip joints? Also check snugness of spark plugs. A not completely seated spark plug can allow combustion gases to escape under load and create a ticking sound, but this would be consistent with RPM, not with driveline rotation.

Good luck.

OOFFFFHH !

thats starting to sound bad.

I have a similar problem / different noise.
Mine sounds like the jingle of a rusty bearing or something jingling around when going down the road...
I thought maybe it was the throw out bearing but pushing in the clutch doesn't change anything.

I only found 1 guy on youtube who had a similar noise on a customer car.
Turned out to be the transfer case... I think the rear driveshaft (yolk)? bearing... the RACE was spinning in the TC housing... causing a rattle...

I'm not sure if thats whats going on with mine.... but it's getting worse over time.... it used to be sporatic... now it's every time I drive it.

My current plan it to drive until it grenades or gets to the point where it's obvious thats the problem.

it's very difficult to pin point where its coming from...

Thats all I got...

I accidentally found my noise today.. Installing my new transfer case linkage I see this....

looks like a dust shield..... rattling away....

no leaks so I just cut it off..... for now.
