Chrysler 8.25 vs Dana 35
Question: Due to the break in the "bead" on the outside rim of the rear end cover at the bottom, I believe my XJ has a 8.25 rear end.
BUT --- when looking into 2 or 3" lift kit, Zone states that the ID width of leaf spring bolts is 3 inches for Chrysler and 2 3/4 for Dana 35. My bolt ID appears to be 2 3/4 and not 3 ".
So -- I have conflicting info. What other tip do you have to identify
the two rear ends ?
thanks, Randy

thanks guys. It might be that my glasses need a new prescription;
but the bottom of the rear end cover looks between the two. Not totally
squared off and not totally rounded.
Have a GREAT upcoming weekend.
I am heading up to a Car museum in Sylmar (CA) this SAT morning. I have
been wanting to go up there for about 10 yrs now .....
thanks again, Randy from Oceanside

I wish I could do it !!!! Since outlook merged or bought out hotmail, I have not been able to transfer pictures from computer to any emails !!!!!
It used to be easy -- click on the word "picture" above the email and transfer pics. Now there is a long message and when I go step by step to
do it ,the directions are not the same as what is happening real-time !
thanks, Randy
PS: I am getting ready to hire a computer dude to come out and take some crap off the computer and then try and fix this. Anyone know of
such a person in the San Diego/Oceanside area ????

Another easy give away. C8.25 the cover appears to be a misfit. On the bottom the cover is rounded but the housing is "squared off" and the cover appears to be the wrong size/fit.

Tiny pic will host your images for free. Like everyone else says the c8.25 cover looks like it shouldn't be on there but it just is. Good luck and have fun at the car show.

stand behind your xj far enough to where you can't see anything but the shape of the axle. If the bottom looks flat it's an 8.25. It gets confusing up close because some parts of it are round but when you get that far back it's clear to see
Thanks mucho !! The factory could not do it the easy way and just put a
D_____ stamp on the cover with Chyrsler or Dana !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I had it figured out before the lift companies started asking me
about the axle U-Bolt ID dimension .............
Looked like 8.25 before I measured the spread of U-bolts -- I am going to
measure it again and not try and stay clean under there. Now with my
gas tank skid, it makes it harder to just look at it from 10 feet.
thanks , Randy
