Question Chrysler 8.25 question?

I'm going to upgrade my rear from a d35 to a chrysler 8.25 and was wondering if the gears will be a problem? It's a stock 8.25. And I have a d30 up front. Any help would be great. Thanks!

it wont be a problem just look at the tab on your 35 and make sure that gearing is the same as the new 8.25. ie 3.55 to 3.55

i have an 87 cherokee that had 3.54 gears and i switch the rearend for an 8.25 that had 3.55, not a big difference but seeing how yours is an 89 i would check to see whats in your d30, cause it could be like mine was.

Actually 3.55 and 3.54 are the same more or less. You take the number of teeth on the ring gear divided by the number of teeth on the pinion gear to get the ratio so it actually comes out to like 3.5454545454 and you get the picture but rounds up to 3.55.

Both axles have to be the same gear ratio, correct? If so, will the 8.25 rear with 3.55 gears work with the front dana 30? Or is does the dana 30 have a different ratio? (it's stock)

look on the tag on the d30 to see what ratio it says if it has 3.55s and your 8.25 has 3.55s you are set but but front and rear have to be the same ratio or it will severely mess up your drive train.

you're running a 5spd... unless you or a previous owner has changed out the gears, you are running 3.07's in your D30 (stock ratio).

check the 8.25 ratio out before install

Yes, they have 3.54 gears. in fact the fron axel often has a set the is 1 digit lower than the rear, f=3.54-R=3.55, f=4.09-R=4.10 ect.

I have a standard tranny. So what does that make the d30 ratio?
