Mine's leaking. Has been for a long time, but now it's really pissing itself. Where can I get a new one? There's no JY nearby, and I don't feel like driving 90 minutes to find a cheap piece of rubber. Can an OEM one be purchased from a parts store? Is there an alternative?

Part# you need is 3723687. Go over to jeepoemparts.com and you can order one for around $3 or you could call your local dealership and compare the price. Other then that I don't know of anywhere else since crown doesn't seem to list one.

 

Just slap some duct tape on it.

 

Another more difficult option would be to buy a threaded drain plug that's larger then your drain hole, tap that hole for the new threaded plug and call it good. I have actually done this before, just make sure you use touch of thread sealer on it and it's golden.

 

Hmm... that sounds like more work than it's worth. I've also heard of using a turn-down style boat plug in place of the fill plug. Gonna call the Jeep dealer on my lunch break and see how much they'll charge me for the part# you gave.

This'll give me an excuse to change the fluids out anyways.

I think they have standard pipe threads True. So you may be able to put a pipe plug in it from the hardware store. I know you can't buy milk in the town you are in, but can you buy a pipe plug???

 

They all leak, even new will leak slowly. The only option is to go toa HD cover.

Haha, smartass. We DO have a hardware store, it's in a room behind the old restaurant. AND, the convenience stores carry milk now. AND, the dollar store started carrying dry stuff and milk. Eggs are still a problem though, but we've got chickens so we're surviving.

Called the stealership, and they have one in stock for $3.70. Gonna pick it up after work.

NEW QUESTION: How many quarts do the axles hold? Might as well change them both this weekend.

And since they leak just because... is there a way to help them out? RTV? Thick coat of bull **it?

Hmmm, 4.4 pints is what my owners manual calls for. Last I checked, 2 pints = 1 quart. This is for a Chrysler 8.25.

 

Bought 2 quarts didnt use them both, and I gaurentee it was full.
