So, I just purchased a Cherokee XJ and realized that the rear bracket is rotted out. I plan on replacing the floor pans, but I also need to replace this bracket. From what I had heard, the rear bracket for the front seats are one piece, and it runs up underneath the transmission tunnel to the other side. Because of this, it needs to be replaced as one big piece since it supports both the driver's seat AND the passenger's seat. I also heard that this is where the seatbelt mounts, so I would like it to be pretty secure.
What are my options here? I found front seat brackets but not the rear. Looking forward to any advice Bracket & accompanying hole in floor where back of driver's seat is
I THINK it is the entire floor pan, transmission tunnel & rear bracket included. If that's the case, I think I may want to swap the entire floor pan since the entire floor is bad. We shall see once I hear back from Mopar.
I believe it's part #9, waiting to hear back from Mopar
Having fixed rust issues on two XJs now, I suggest you do some poking around with a screw driver, particularly around the front and rear Leaf Spring mounting locations, as well as that section of frame channel in the picture. I fear you're going to find a bunch more issues and it's better to understand what you're getting into before starting.
Pull the carpet now if you havent already before you start buying parts because that rot goes deeper than it looks. There is ALWAYS more. Give that framerail a thorough inspection as well.
Looks like the outer rocker is gone altogether. Whats the rest of this thing look like?
Sorry to hear that... I does look bad in the pics and I'm not sure you would have got much use before another issue would have popped up... Good for you that you know when to bail on the project.. I see a lot of guys trying to flog the dead horse spending way more than their worth and getting nothing in return at the end...If you want one keep looking there's still some good ones out there..

I actually ended up picking up a 2001 in much better shape in the same color. The floor is in great shape.
