Hello gang, my 2000 Cherokee Sport has a problem with driver's window, when I use the Auto feature and window reash the full down it doesn't stop, I can hear gears like sliping or grinding I have use the button to stop, it also happends at full up window.
Pardon my English I am a bit rusty. The window goes up and down without problems it is just when I use the automatic feature. Thanks in advance TP.

Most likely a stripped gear in the regulator. My driver's side window on my '00 would keep trying to go up until I let my finger off the switch. Would not stop automatically like it should. Read this:

I just replace the regulator and called it a day.

I agree. It's not a difficult job.
Here is another write up for what I believe your problem to be:

I agree with the others.
If you have the money and also a 4-door, a new regulator is relatively cheap.
Rock auto has em for $61 maybe even cheaper at fleabay or Amazon.
On the other hand if its a 2-door, forget finding a new one. Had to locate and buy a used one from an out of State bone yard.

gotta wonder what makes a good one stop huh??
the svc man says ,,,,,,
The one-touch down feature circuitry within the
DDM will not operate the power window motor if the
door glass, window regulator, or gearbox mechanism
are stuck, obstructed, or binding. If the driver side
front door power window operates as designed, but
the one-touch down feature is inoperative, replace
the faulty DDM.
the dr door module has some electronics to monitor and control/stop the motor

Hey nujeep, thats a good point.
I replaced my driver's side door window switch pod along with the regulator because the passenger side switch wouldn't operate its window. Got a new one dirt cheap on fleabay.
Hopefully the regulator gear mechanism isn't soon to be shot as the OPer said he heard grinding noises.
If it were me, i'd 'shotgun' it and replace both the regulator and the switch pod at the same time. Changing the switch pod out is a piece of cake while the door panel is off.
If one looks hard enough, could all be bought for well under $100.

Mine does the same thing - the plastic piece is cracked so the window isn't attached while going down, but the plastic piece will push the window back up.
I am assuming replacing the plastic worm drive thing will fix the issue (driver's side auto window doesn't stop on its own).

OK found one at ebay already in the mail, this is the other problem......
Front passenger side window, sometimes it works and sometimes it only works from the driver side switch......OK it always work from the driver's side switch but the switch at that window there are days it works but most of the time it doesn't....like there is no voltage at that switch.............TP

Read my earlier post.
Had the same problem, the pass. window would work from the driver's side door switch but not the pass. window switch pod.
The driver's side pod is notorious for cold solder joints. You can either go through all the trouble of disassembling it and go over all solder joints or you can order a new switch pod. Also it could be a broken wire in the door jam cable. Might want to check that first.
Got a new driver's side door switch pod for around some $30 on flea bay. Everything works now good as new.
By the way, i did a post mortem on my defective regulator. The motor brushes were worn.
