Default Intermittent operation of power locks

Replaced all four lock units with a buy via this forum, and they work great ... for a while, then they don't work at all, then all resume working. Mechanic had proposed replacing front passenger switch ($$$$) during last outage, and I declined the spend since they are now working again. Does his diagnosis/corrective make sense? Where does the power enter these switches? I had assumed it was at the driver's door, and that there was an intermittent bad connection there so none would work.

I believe there are some failures related to the passenger side switch. I think in some models there is a relay built in on the passenger side switch. Your problem sounds like it could be that or an occasional loss of a proper ground.

Thanks for the reply. Might the relay show intermittent failure of varying duration?

I can see that an occasional ground failure could go in and out. But if so, is there a single grounding point that would be at fault, since all locks operate, or fail to operate, at the same time? And if only one, where to find it?

My driver's side front door is not locking. When I investigated, I found a spring broke in 2, laying at bottom of inside the door. Where can I get another spring. The door will lock when button is pushed or with key, while door is open. When door closes, the door unlocks. With the door panel off and lock/open rods are disconnected I can push/pull the rod to lock the door. When I put the panel back on, the door locking quits working. I think it is the broken spring I found. Where to get one?
