Hi everyone, I am new to this and I am having a similar problem. I went to start my 87 cherokee one morning and it didnt do anything, no click nothing. We checked the battery and cables. When we tested the ignition switch, it fell apart in my hand so I replaced it, still nothing. When we tested the fuse block I am only getting power to half of the fuse block, so my head lights, tail lights, and hazards work nothing else does. Have any suggestions?? Please help!!

do 136 amp off of a 96-98 grand cherokee (slight mod needed but not bad). Got mine for $35 at jy. gained 46amps that can be used for lights, winch, electric fans.

Sorry for the stupid question, but is that just a 96-98 fuse block wired into a Renix? I've got an 88 myself. crank windows rule
And the slight mod is easily figured with the wiring diagrams from each of the years in question i take it?

cracked header lol, second might be death wobble, third is maybe...coolant resevoir leakin or something idno...

lol cherokee the vehicle u buy to offroad because its cheap and then u end up a couple years later with 9k into it lol money pit is the biggest cherokee problem

Does it start in Neutral? if soo read posts on cleaning Neutral Safety Switch take it apart and clean it reinstall in Neutral and adjust so line on switch is lined up with bolt.

Did you check fuses under the Hood? or the only the interior fuse panel?

I have had three xj's and every one of them had terrible overheating problems

My jeep used to bounce between 160 degrees and 215 degrees about every ten minutes. I took off the manual fan and went to electric. now the fan hardley ever turns on and it sit between 185-205, and heats up in no time flat. hoping to see some mpg gains also but need to drive a little more to figure that out

davy, i have a similar problem with mine but mine cranks about 95% of the time instead of never ha. sometimes its like there is no battery in it or anything. no clicking, nothing. just put it in neutral like they said and it should crank right up. if thats what it is you need to replace your neutral safety switch or clean it like xj jtt said. this just happened to me and i just got a new one off of ebay for 31 bucks and free shipping! hope this helps

I have had the same problem. Its a really easy fix just tighten your battery terminals

But not till I had already replaced the starter, battery, alternator, ignition, and a few other things.
haha when i got my jeep my cluster would randomly quit working and the check engine light was on.... i sunk it half way up the jeep and after my instruments work fine and the check engine light has been off ever since. however my speakers only work when the doors r closed and then thats 50/50

The speakers only working when your doors open/closed is because of a splice in the wire right where the door opens and closes... splice a new piece of wire between the speaker run it through the door grommet where teh harness goes in and splice it further down the wire inside the vehicle to avoid the door opening and closing on a splice. After a while the stock spliced wire breaks and it becomes a bad connection/shorts out.

I have entirely rewired my jeep with amps and such but when I first got it, I rewired my fronts like this because I had the same problem. They worked perfect from then on.
