Default Cherokee AC Question

Ok, last fall my AC compressor locked up on me when making an airport run to Indy for an exotic animal shipment. Thus, I had to rent a car to come home, leaving my jeep to have the AC compressor replaced at a rather pricey garage in Indianapolis. Anyway, I spent $1k on the repair... not having them charge the ac and fisish the job because I was trying to limp the job through and recover my losses (spent my profit from the sales on this, not exactly a heart warming experience). Anyway. They filled the compressor with oil and stated that before it is charged it should have the dryer replaced, and something else but for the world of me I can't remember. When replacing an AC compressor, what else would you replace on one of these to make sure that there isn't any dirt or debri in the system? Also, is a dryer the same thing as an AC accumilator?

The accumulator/dryer and orifice tube/liquid line are both filters and should be replaced especially since the old compressor went south. Before connections are made, the evaporator and condensor should be flushed with a/c flush and blown out with compressed air. The correct amount of oil, for your year model, should be added (1/2 to the new dryer and 1/2 to the new compressor). Looks like u need to remove the compressor, turn it upside down to drain the oil and start over with oil...1/2 & 1/2 as stated. Have a shop/pro pull a vacuum and charge with refrigerant.

Accumulator/dryer are one in the same. The orifice tube on the XJ is built into the liquid line.
