Default Check engine light-transmission

My check engine light came on in my Jeep after driving in the snow and having to use the 4x4 the last couple days. My wife took it by Autozone today and they did a did a quick test and told her it was a transmission sensor. they failed to give her a trouble code or anything. I haven't noticed any trouble out of the transmission other than a little bit of rough shifting from time to time but nothing major. I have around 130 k on it and it's been a great vehicle. Any ideas on what the is error reading could be and what sensor is located in the tranny? the light has since went off and has not come back on. thanks.

I dont know what year your jeep is but I assume its newer than 96 the light will sometimes come on and then go back off. When this happens it means a sensor has received an incorect reading and the computer will normally reset itself, sometimes it needs to be reset, but either way if it resets and the light does not come back on then the sensor itself is fine and does not need replaced unless the light stays on.

mine did that about 2 years ago when i was offroading. it would come off and on from time to tome for about 3 months after. i checked all my fluids and topped everything off. sometimes those sensors just go off mostly when somthing different is done to the everyday drive. my check light has not come on in almost 2 years
