Default check engine light p0455

i have this code on in my xj and was wondering if there was something common in jeep sthat would cause this i replaced the gas cap but i dont think i bought the right one it doesnt seem to fit right.

but any advice is appreciated

P0455 I think is the evap emissions code. if so,, most common problem is the gas cap. Even a replacement should fit as good as the origional.

Next, you need to run the vac. lines to and from the fuel tank. Look for weather cracked lines. Also look around the fuel rail, if it is fuel injected it can be the pressure regulator losing vac. at the diaphram.

Usually doesent cause much problems other than loss of gas mileage and fuel efficiency. Many times if you actually fix the problem the light will go off on its own.

well i bought a gas cap but its doesnt seem to be correct and i think if its not that its a vacuum leak in the engine bay

Talking EVAP Code PO455

I have a 2000 xj sport, just went thru the search for " gross leak, unable to pressurize EVAP system". Check all the rubber hose connections in the system, my leak was at the cannister connection hose, but yours may be some other connection. A UV smoke test at a dealer is relatively painless in the wallet, and saves lots of hair pulling, and swearing under your breath at this EVAP thing. Your jeep will live.

it was a dry rotted hose to the gas tank for the evap system
