Default Check engine light

We have been battling our check engine light issue for at least 5 years. Small Evap leak. At times we have gone perhaps a year or so with no light. When we recently had the dash pulled for an a/c vent issue they found a couple hoses which they said were disconnected. They reconnected the hoses and the light stayed off for a while.

The light was off the longest when they found that the hose at the charcoal canister near the gas tank was cracked. About two months ago they found that same hose was loose so they wrapped the connection with teflon tape. This last week - after the car had sat for a few days without having been driven the light went out on its own.

We live in Mexico - and they do not have a way of isolating the problem using smoke etc. I did look at some YouTube videos where people show how to create your own smoke generating apparatus.

So my question - can anyone guess how many feet of tubing we would need to have replaced if we wanted to stop guessing where the problem might be and just replace the tubing ?

Thanks
