Default check engine light

I have an 01 Sport that a CEL just came on after idling for 10 minutes. The light is on steadily, not flashing. Our nearest Autozone is 60 miles so I can check the code. Is it safe to drive it?

Probably. But there has to be someone closer who can read the code. If not, I would buy a code reader/scanner.

Default check engine light

I undid the battery cables and the light went off. I then changed the spark plugs. After driving it for a while, the check engine light came back on. I had the code checked and it's a PO301. Anyone else have this trouble on an 01 Sport? Suggestions?

That's a #1 cyl misfire, right? If so, there are many possible causes. Coil, injector, injector wiring, low compression, sticky valve, vacuum leak, etc. Time to do some troubleshooting!

Correct, cylinder 1 misfire. Is there a troubleshooting guide available for this issue? I'm a novice.
Thanks to all.
