check engine code 45?

I am new but what is NSS? My 1997 is throwing the same code. when I called a shop they started talking about compression test???

NSS is Neutral Safety Switch and is mounted on the transmission.

i need to kno bc my jeep is slightly different issues as others. Similar but different i got the 45 code but when i get the 97 xj started it idles rough and then when i shift it stalls out immediatly
plus the 12-11-45 but it stayed on much longer than the others did 11 again and then 55

got a 96 Xj manufactured in October and its obd1 and I do have a code 45 any ideas? Thanks

Is your check engine light on? Your '96 is OBDII. Try using a real scanner.

96 was a bit of a bastard year with the factory using a mix of old and new parts.. He might very well have OBD-I
