check engin light after alternator install
Low battery, 8.5V, removed alternator which checked good, replaced alternator, new serpentine belt, and newly charged battery. Now it is a check engin light and no go. I expected to replace the engin computer but want to get it started first, any ideas?
This is my first thread so I am curious how this works. I plan to keep the 94 XJ and maintain it myself, with a little help.
I let my battery charger green light and my volt/ohm meter tell me that my battery was fully charged when in fact it was not. A check found that it was still at 8.5 volts and not charged. Replaced battery and all is OK and in the meantime I learned to replace a serpentine belt and remove and replace alternator so all is good.
I did check the wiring and during this time decided to check battery so thanks for that suggestion.
