I had an idea for this. Could I use a U-Bolt on the stock bumper with a thick steel backing plate(to give it more surface area than just 2 washers pulling at the bumper) I don't really care too much if my bumper is torn off, besides then I'd have good motivation to make a new bumper. Anyone think this is a decent idea? If you don't understand what I'm trying to say, let me know I'll try to explain better or make a diagram.

use a thick piece that is long enough to go to the bumper mounting points and you can keep your stock looking bumper with the plate behind it. just drill the same holes as hte bumper and use longer bolts

dude just do it the safe way and either build your bumper or get tow hook brackets, there is a nice vid on you tube where a rear bumper gets torn off and hits someone looks like it breaks there leg so please just do us a favor and do it right the first time

I do, if it flies off and hits me or my jeep or anyone else.....Do it right and make/buy a quality bumper with multiple mounting points.

gGo with the u-bolt idea and chain it to a tree with noone around and tug till it comes off, then go back to the garage and put a good solid bumper on it with some tow hooks.

Fun and safe
