I have a 1994 Cherokee with the I-6 engine.

Intermittently, it stops charging. Then, suddenly, it will begin charging again.

A bench test says the alternator is functional, so I went through all electrical connections from the battery through the alternator and into the junction box on the passenger-side firewall. Still, the problem remains.

Any tips or things I should check?

 

when it starts charging does ur idle change? because it was doing the same on mine and my alternator wires were ****ed up so i fixed the wire and plug now it works fine, if not that it sounds just like a loose wire from ur alternator or battery

 

Idle does not change, but the check engine light comes on. All the wires seemed fine. I checked them all.

 

Could be on its way out.
