also in an OBD2 system disconnecting the neg batt terminal does nothing becuase everything is no longer stored in RAM thats why disconnecting the battery cable doesnt clear CEL's on post 1996 vehicles
go buy a new PCM have it flashed and you will have one of those i told ya so moments and you will be saying i wish i listened to that mechanic on jeep cherokee forums
if a new alt doesnt help you have a wiring issue, nothing wrong with your PCM

on the back of the new alternator there is a sticker that says and i quote " this alternator is externally regulated through vehicles computer".. run by advance and check it out.. just saying.. although i do appreciate the advice.
