98 xj. It just started doing this.first start up it will only read 9 volt on the dash.when i crawl ubder and push the block junction on the back of the alternator it starts charging.took it a part and di electrical greased the connections.fine for a week.now its doing it again


Anyone have this issue before?

 

Sounds like one of those monkeys that got loose from the "preserve" up there is messin with your jeep!

kidding.....

sounds like to me that the assembly which is the wiring connection from external to alternator to interior of the alternator is fudged up.
my guess is do one of two things....

1. take off alternator and take apart an see whats loose/wrong. fix it. re-install.
2. get new alternator.
